Alan Davidson has a combined service of over 30 years between Scobie & McIntosh and ScoMac Catering Equipment. He had just reached 25 years service with Scobie & McIntosh Catering Equipment when the business was caught by the withdrawal of funding due to the banking crisis of 2008. He has had a number of roles across both businesses from estimator, senior project manager when he looking after some of the most prestigious award winning projects that both businesses have secured.
Since the formation of ScoMac in January 2009, Alan has taken up a role as estimating and planning manager. He provides a great level of support and knowledge not only to the Livingston-based sales and project team but also to the branches in Leeds and Cambridge.
Alan and his small team are responsible for the estimating to all branches for ScoMacs in-house custom and bespoke manufactured products. In addition he and his team process all projects orders this involves putting all the details of projects ranging from a single item to a large tender project of up to and in excess of £1m at times.
He is closely involved in checking the information input onto the Livingston operating system, which must be accurate and correct, as it is used to raise purchase orders to suppliers, specification details for the companys production department and invoices to its clients. Alan is responsible for providing support to the whole of the ScoMac project and sales teams; each year this can range from anything between £11m to £13m of the dealers overall turnover. The demand on him at certain times requires him to have that can do attitude; this definitely qualifies him as an unsung hero.
