David Purdie has managed and developed the growth of Allsop & Pitts since he joined the business in 1979. The firm is now in its 70th year and to this day is family run and retains its original focus of delivering a personal service to clients of all sizes. As well as his daily duties, David is currently heavily involved in the planning and implementation of the company’s 70th (platinum) anniversary celebrations, which include a significant number of bespoke marketing events throughout its anniversary year.
In the past David has played an active part in the catering equipment industry and was a director of Cedabond for a number of years.
Over the past 12 months David has been actively involved with the re-introduction of the Zanussi brand into the UK market and sits on the board of the Springboard Group, an alliance of five leading catering equipment distributors and service companies which have exclusive rights to distribute the brand. David’s passion for Zanussi is relentless and after attending a significant number of UK meetings in order to agree strategy for the brand, the group is well-positioned to deliver a bespoke experience to customers who wish to purchase Zanussi equipment.
David is the consummate professional and in addition to directing the business on a daily basis he can frequently be found attending site meetings to discuss new projects and innovations, or project managing business he has personally won. Things have changed dramatically since his early days at Allsop & Pitts when he was a veritable jack of all trades and had to not only sell its offer, but design and free draw schemes to scale. Happily those days are now long behind him and one of David’s current passions is to oversee the implementation of the firm’s 3D CAD and BIM offer with the kitchen design team.
Never one to shy away from the distributor’s customer base (existing or new), David is driven by the desire to succeed and is contactable to all, 7 days a week. He rarely takes a holiday, although he does thoroughly enjoy the occasional game of golf — usually with clients.
