If there was an illustration to accompany the dictionary definition of the phrase loyal employee, then surely Graham Beans photograph would be front and centre. For over 21 years he has excelled at his role as the national design director of Lockhart Catering Equipment.
He has seen the business go through many changes, including its buyout by Bunzl from Sudexo ownership in 2002. But since 1994 he has headed up a network of experienced designers and installers which operate nationally from three offices: Harlow, Manchester and Cumbernauld.
His broad role involves management of the teams and business development within all sectors of the catering equipment industry.
Through his tenure he has overseen huge projects such as an 18 month refurbishment programme for Sodexo at AstraZenecas headquarters on a 500acre site in Alderley Park, Cheshire, which had to cater for 4,500 staff, plus a £450,000 catering facility for students at The Manchester College.
Over the last 12 months his team completed the supply and installation of a visitor centre cafe at The Kelpies near Falkirk. The centre is part of The Helix, a £42m project which is regenerating an 800acre park and is co-partnered by Falkirk Council, Falkirk Community Trust and Scottish Canals.
He is pushing the boundaries of design technology forward too, as in 2015 he helped to unveil a Catering Design Services app that instantly converts standard 2D kitchen designs into fully interactive 3D models. He ensured the app was made available on select projects, and that the third party behind the app developed exclusive functions for Lockhart.
Graham and the Lockhart design team pride themselves on innovation and keeping up with the leading edge of what is available on the market. His dedication to his role shows no signs of stopping.
