Graham Sowerby has worked hard in his role at web-based dealer, Catering Appliance Superstore, to ensure that it is not seen as an internet box shifter, and offers genuinely innovative options for catering equipment buyers.
He has brought all his web design experience to the table, as he also owns SCK Web Works, a company he established in June 2007. Clearly his expertise has paid dividends for Kendal-headquartered Catering Appliance Superstore, as it went from a start-up to a £10m company within 6 years and is now one of the largest catering equipment suppliers in the UK.
Graham has worked closely with MD, Phil Wearmouth, to deliver fresh ideas to create the optimum platform for selling catering equipment online. Just this year he drove the development of the firms new website, which has improved the design and compatibility to create a better experience for users on any device, whether it be desktop, tablet or mobile.
This development is ongoing, as in May, Graham sent new equipment configurator tools live. These include appliances such as hot cupboards, combi ovens and tables.
The tools make it easy for customers to configure their product and then specify any required accessories or upgrades. This is a step beyond the typical brochure-style e-commerce online store, where a website would present the customer with a long list of products that they need to browse through to find the product they require. Instead they are guided through a few questions regarding the product they want, with the hope that in the end they have identified the product they need and added any optional extras and accessories.
With more innovative features to come, such as 3D kitchen builders and product simulation tools, it is no wonder that Graham deserves his place on this years Power List.
