Helping the next generation through to the catering equipment industry is an issue which is close to Tailor Made MD Jim Stevens’ heart.

The company has taken on at least five apprentices over the last 2 years (three in the field and two in its offices), working with the local South Gloucestershire and Stroud College to help it to fill new apprenticeship positions. Jim has personally driven this programme as he strives to make the industry attractive to younger people and refresh the typically older demographic.

This seems to have paid dividends for Tailor Made’s own fortunes as well, as it has had a record order-book through 2014-15 and again in 2015-16. From setting up the distributor 10 years ago, Jim has led the company to grow an incredible 25% year on year, on average.

He also relied on his previous experience gained as the director of the Bradshaw Group and HCE Foodservice Equipment, when setting up his own company. Jim named the firm Tailor Made to symbolise his vision of providing a completely tailored service for his customers.

One of these continued close relationships is with the ever-expanding Loungers Group, which has seen the dealer carry out over 75 successful installations.

The business continues to recruit and expand, particularly with the recent addition of two new engineers in its service department.

Tailor Made’s continued success is down to the personal service provided, all directed by Jim. Most business comes from referrals, recommendations, or repeat business from existing customers. This is testament to the extraordinarily high levels of customer service that the company has become renowned for.
