Jonathan Skinner has certainly blazed a trail through Knaresborough-based Marshall Catering Equipment. Still only in his mid-30s, he is already a director and co-owner of the company.
Often professing a love for his job, he is now heavily involved in all areas of the company, from sales to the day to day running. This includes taking care of the companys marketing strategy, focusing on generating content for the Marshall website and managing its social media accounts.
He has worked for the family-run firm since the beginning of 1999, and over the last 17 years has worked his way up from the bottom. He started his career in the service department, learning about the repairs and installation side of the business.
From there he joined the sales department, studying the reconditioning and sales of second hand equipment and the delivery and installation of various appliances. Jonathan also learned the placement and flows that are contained in a kitchen thanks to watching his father Trevor draw up plans for new kitchens.
As time went on he began to sell and has now built up a database of customers that he has designed kitchens and catering areas for. He is also a qualified 2D CAD operator which helps Marshall present its designs in a highly professional way.
His passion for design is a key part of his work, and he loves overcoming problems using excellent design. This is reflected in the business growing, with more scheme work and one-off sales.
