When Ray Costelloe founded Contract Catering Equipment, he did so with just enough money to cover the first month’s rent on a workshop at Bentley Farm in Essex, and set up on his own, doing what he did best: bending sheet metal. Some 25 years later, CCE is a fully-fledged kitchen house that has proudly designed and installed some of the most innovative bespoke kitchens for the industry’s top culinary names. With a particular focus on the London area, CCE’s complete approach to project management, from design and fabrication to installation and service, provides chefs and restaurant owners with a one-stop-shop for all their kitchen needs.
However, it is the emphasis on personal service that Ray and his close-knit team of project managers embody that has really endeared the distributor to clients at the top end of the restaurant spectrum. Ray is a vehement believer in embracing foodservice technology that can truly make a difference in an operating environment and it’s this policy of only providing customers with the very best that has seen it invest heavily in brands such as Adande, Rational and Thermodyne.
But the real story this year has been the launch of CCE’s first ever live demo kitchen at its headquarters, an ambition of Ray’s for some time. Constructed so that equipment can be moved in and out to suit customers’ wishes, the demo facility includes an integrated design suite where chefs can throw ideas around and see their visions come to life in a 3D format before stepping outside the door to see the real kit in action. With CCE committed to ensuring that equipment in the demo kitchen is rotated to reflect new developments in the market, customers visiting for the full ‘kitchen design experience’ can do so in the knowledge that the conversation will always be driven by innovation.
