The Airedale Group continues to show why it is considered one of the titans of the commercial catering equipment industry following a year in which it has delivered some of the biggest and most exciting kitchen projects in the UK, including an impressive scheme at Wellington College, which saw it land the 2015 Large Project award from CEDA.
This success has all been overseen by Rob Bywell, who has made it his mission to expand the company’s capabilities and provide clients with an industry-leading service since taking the helm after a successful MBO 2 years ago. With the company claiming to design more than 1,000 catering and hospitality environments every year, Rob and his board continue to rise to the challenges they face.
One of the most significant milestones of Rob’s reign came at the back end of 2014 when the distributor announced it was acquiring South Coast Catering, a respected catering equipment distributor based in Dorset. Through that deal, Airedale has massively expanded its geographic presence and now operates from six offices throughout the UK.
With a strong service network behind it — around 100 of its 200-strong workforce are based in sales positions — the Bradford-based company can truly lay claim to nationwide coverage. Rob has pledged to actively look for opportunities to expand Airedale’s capabilities and while it remains to be seen whether this will lead to further acquisitions, it is certainly true that the distributor’s extensive engineer base now allows it to differentiate this aspect of its offering.
