Stephen Ryan certainly is trailblazing his way through the catering equipment industry. Just 6 years ago he started out as a chef for leading operators such as Punch Taverns, and his hands-on experience on the client side has been invaluable in giving him insight into kitchen design.
In 2013 he joined Northampton-based kitchen house Dine By Design as kitchen development manager. There he was instrumental in designing commercial catering areas for clients as diverse as the Royal & Derngate Theatre, Tart — a patisserie concept in London, and soft play area, Safari MK.
But the real headline during his time at the firm was Coca-Cola Enterprises. Stephen oversaw a project that mixed old equipment with new at the global brand’s technical and servicing centre in Milton Keynes. Coca-Cola’s contract caterer, Sodexo, agreed that Stephen and the Dine By Design team went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that the project was finished on time and to a high standard.
Stephen has taken this valuable experience onto his next role, stepping up to become Stevenage-based Gratte Brothers’ area sales manager in March. Colleagues are sure that he will continue to thrive at the catering equipment division of the industry giant, which has over 50 years of experience and a turnover in excess of £13m.
