Tim Fisher is this year’s milestone man, having just celebrated his 25th anniversary at Garners Food Service Equipment. His success story is based on his hard work from joining the Nottingham-based distributor as design manager in 1991.
His role has greatly evolved since he first joined Garners. As design manager, his workscope was initially very much task-driven, with relatively little management as such. This very quickly changed when he became design and contracts director in the mid-1990s and more so when he progressed from MD designate to MD, ultimately becoming owner in September 2009.
Tim has kept a hands-on approach throughout and still very much gets a buzz from the variety he enjoys in his current role.
In the past year or so alone the company has delivered numerous challenging projects in a range of marketplaces, including in education, in the form of the flagship Heart of Campus project for Nottingham Trent University.
He takes pride in having developed Garners’ enviable reputation as a leading commercial catering facility provider, and credits the tremendous team of people he has helped to build along the way as being vital to the company’s success.
Despite the very challenging economic conditions of recent years, Tim has steered the dealer to maintain a continued a level of investment which it is now in a position to accelerate, in terms of both strengthening the team itself as well as further infrastructure investment.
Looking ahead, Tim intends to maintain solid development of the core business to enable individual members of the team to develop and have ever-increasing responsibility and influence.
