Acme’s Tom Kennedy is still in the blush of youth despite actually being in the catering equipment industry for nearly 10 years. He started at Catering Centre as a trainee designer and estimator in July 2007, before moving on to Blackburn-based Catersure in 2009.

After spending almost 2 years there as a fully-fledged designer and estimator, he swapped to the fabrication side of the industry. This was when he became a designer and estimator at Manchester-based Goyt Kitchen Fabrications.

However, in 2013, he decided once more that the dealer channel was for him when he joined the Acme Facilities Group in Blackburn. There he continued in a designer and estimator role, but has worked his way up within the company, as last November his efforts were rewarded with a promotion into a project designer position.

Tom is very interested in progressing his career and meeting others within the industry, as he was one of the founding members of the CEDA Academy, the association’s young networking group. He feels that the Academy will be a success as it will provide support and assistance to all of its youthful members and can help guide them with regards to any future issues they may face with any projects, going forwards.

He also believes this important networking group will help all of its members to learn more about the technical side of the industry, which can often be a grey area.
